March, Women's History Month, Art Camps

Funny how we celebrate these special months to honor people: Black History, Women’s History and on and on. I am all those things and celebrate my African American heritage and female life every day, it’s always special.

I’m usually in the throws of Warriors basketball and the Spring training of the SF Giants, and I am watching the stats, listening to games, but my attention is elsewhere this year. There are many concerns about the world at hand and I am paying more attention to the details of changing current events. We all should be. I’m taking the stand to continue a normal life, and booking shows, exhibits, art camps. Life is precarious and we can be held in place by the big problems or keep going, albeit more thoughtfully. PLEASE, PLEASE, STAY WELL MY FRIENDS!

In celebration of Women’s History Month, am making jewelry in homage to some special ladies, and with the new book I’m reading, I’m taking Kate Hodges selected gals and designing jewelry to honor several of my favorites. The book, “Warriors, Witches, Women”, is funny and amazing. She includes their stories and her take on how they were portrayed over time. My Spring is coming: new seedlings for my vegetable and flower garden, trees are erupting leaves and the edge of winter is nearly there. I am looking forward to the adventure of the new season. - Denise
